Workshop: Positive Discipline How to Support Parents and their Children -Thunder Bay

Description:
This workshop is designed to help service providers intervene in a positive way with children and to help the parents offer similar positive discipline strategies to their children. This workshop is based on the Best Start Resource Centre awareness campaign Children See… Children Learn.

Learning objectives:

  • Participants will understand the negative impact of corporal and emotional punishment on children.
  • Participants will be able to explain the principles of positive discipline and their application.
  • Participants will know intervention strategies to use with children and parents to reduce the use of corporal and emotional punishment of children.

Who should attend:
Service providers working with young children and with the parents of young children. This may include staff from Ontario Early Years Centres, community health centres, public health units, daycares, schools, etc.

Registration:
The cost of this workshop is $75 per participant. Lunch is included.

Registration will start at 8:30 and the workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
